About the
POmo Museum

The POMO Museum is owned and operated by the Port Moody Heritage Society (PMHS). The society’s mission is to support the heritage and education surrounding the Burrard Inlet. It’s members and staff strive to support the community and drive efforts towards heritage conservation through development of exhibitions and collection, as well as advocacy for various historic sites of significance such as IOCO town site.

Exhibitions at the Museum include the building itself – the second CPR station for Port Moody; the 1920s sleeper car “Venosta”, and gallery space utilized to tell the history of Port Moody as well as bring in diverse histories and stories from throughout the GVA and farther afield. Alongside our galleries the Museum has a volunteer run Meditation Garden and other garden space for guests to enjoy. We welcome everyone to discover new things about our shared history and city!

The Museum’s daily operations are overseen by the PMHS Voluntary Board of Directors. Inside the walls you might meet the Executive Director, Manager/Curator, Volunteer and Programs Coordinator, or a range of seasonal employees. During the summer we welcome student and youth employees exploring their future in museums. In the winter our weekend employees ensure we are able to stay open to the public year round. 

Our volunteers provide vital support across the museum from cleaning and organizing gallery space to operations, collections maintenance, garden and landscaping, as well as helping our programs and events run smoothly. 

Moving into the future the POMO Museum is working hard to meet the heritage and advocacy needs of our community members. We look forward to exploring the future of heritage with you!
